For centuries, people looked to the church as the source of the greatest art in the world. God was worshipped through the arts. Slowly, over time, the arts became more secularized and less important within the mission of the church. The world embraced the arts as a way to glorify humanity and elevated freedom of expression above all else. Over the last twenty years, the arts in all of its forms have been re-emerging as vital parts in the expression of worship within the church.
"The day is just now arrived again where the church has stopped following the world and has began to create art forms that the world will have to learn from us." —Tommy Walker
At Cornwall Church, we believe that the arts were created by God for His glory. We believe that artists have been given a gift by God, and as Christ-followers are called to glorify Him within the local church and beyond. We recognize that we are artists by God's grace, gifted by our unlimited Creator, and called to use these gifts to serve others as modeled by Christ.
As a ministry, we have set out not only to lead this church body in worship through the arts, but also to build community within the family of artists who serve here. We value excellence as well as acceptance and humility.
Our mission is as follows:
To be a community of artists who honor and serve Jesus Christ by drawing his people into authentic worship through the creative and relevant use of our gifts.
At Cornwall, the following artists and technicians are supported as they work together to help facilitate worship within our church:
