Movement Catalysts

Each of the three Movements is based on where you are, as taught throughout the MOVE series. Tailor-make your next MOVE by engaging in these practical suggestions throughout the summer to grow your love for God and others.

Movement 1

  • Belief in salvation by grace (I believe nothing I do or have done can earn my salvation)

This summer arrive at an answer to this question:

Is it possible for you to earn your salvation? Why or why not?

Consider these as you form your answer: Romans 10:9-11, Ephesians 2:8-9, Hebrews 11:6

In one sentence, define God’s grace.

  • Belief in the Trinity (I believe the God of the Bible is the one true God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit)

Read an article on the Trinity (HERE).

  • Serving the church (at least once a month)

Serve at Camp Rock 3-4 times this summer.

Check the bubble next to one of the Top Serving Opportunities on the Connect Card.

  • Praying for guidance frequently (at least several times a week)

Pray Psalm 25:4 three times a week.

  • Reflecting on the meaning of Scripture

Three times a week read Scripture (perhaps from the Cornwall Daily Reading plan) and ask, “How

does this Scripture impact my life?”

Movement 2

  • Believing in a personal God (I believe that God is actively involved in my life)

Once a week, take a few minutes to write down how you have seen God in your life in the past week.

Daily, take a few minutes to write down how you have seen God that day.

Tell one person each day how you saw God in the past 24 hours.

  • Praying to seek guidance daily (instead of frequently)

Pray Psalm 25:4-5 daily.

  • Reflecting on Scripture frequently

Several times a week read Scripture (perhaps from the Cornwall Daily Reading plan) and ask, “How

does this Scripture impact my life?”

  • Having six or more meaningful spiritual conversations with non-Christians in a year

(approximately one every two months)

Have two spiritual conversations with non-Christians this summer.

  • Tithing (giving ten percent or more to the church)

Raise your giving percentage by 1% each month this summer.

Trial tithing - Tithe (give 10%) of your income between now and August 31.

Movement 3

  • Giving away their lives (I am willing to risk everything that’s important in my life for Jesus Christ)

Ask one to three people you trust and know you well: What are my blind spots – areas of my life that are not yet under submission to God?

Reflect on stories in Scripture of people who risked it all (1 Samuel 14:1-14, Esther 4:16, Daniel 6:1-28, Genesis 22:1-19)

Daily search for a spontaneous act of service.

Commit to an ongoing serving role.

  • Deciding that Christ is first (I desire Jesus to be first in my life)

Reflect on Philippians 2:5-10, John 3:30, Romans 12:1 asking: In what ways can I more fully live out these verses?

Define submission and examine the parts of your life God longs for you to submit to Him.

  • Embracing an identity in Christ (I exist to know, love and serve God)

Journey toward discovering your spiritual gifts (A starting point for discovering your gifts is available HERE).

Read (or re-read) Purpose Drive Life by Rick Warren and/or Holy Discontent by Bill Hybels.

  • Believing in the authority of the Bible (I believe that the Bible has decisive authority over what I say and do)

This summer arrive at an answer to this question:

Why are you confident with the Bible having authority over your life?

Consider these as you form your answer: 2 Peter 1:21, 2 Timothy 3:16, Psalm 18:30.

  • Reflecting on Scripture daily (instead of frequently)

Daily read Scripture (perhaps from the Cornwall Daily Reading plan) and ask, “How does this

     Scripture impact my life?”
