Salt On The Street – Cornwall’s Ministry with the Homeless

Every Saturday night, homeless people in Bellingham gather in the parking lot of Louis Auto Glass for a meal, some fellowship, great music and encouragement provided by Cornwall's Salt on the Street homeless ministry.  Volunteers are integral to making this ministry happen and work all week long to pull off Saturday night's event.  Are you feeling led to serve the homeless?  There is a place for you at SALT!

Why Serve with SALT?

"Salt has been a blessing with food, worshiping, helping out here. It's been a great thing here."

"Salt has blessed me by being here for me. I get clothing and food. And I believe in Jesus. I'm here to do whatever you want me to do."

"There was a time when I was pregnant and needed a place to stay in the middle of winter when it was snowing. They put me in a hotel. They continue to help. I get diapers for my baby."

How to Serve

Donate Time

Join the team on Saturday nights to help minister to the homless, or serve with SALT during the week in preparation for the Saturday night event.  No matter where you plug in, SALT has a place where you can be the hands and feet of Jesus in a world desperate for His touch.

Current SALT Volunteer Opportunities Include:

Saturday Afternoon Cook Team - volunteers are needed to help make sure food is prepared and ready to go for our Saturday night and Sunday ministries.  This role is vital to the SALT program and, if you have a desire to serve those less fortunate, is perfect for you!  Volunteers prepare food for a few hours in the afternoon on Saturdays.

Mid-week Backup - we have a number of key volunteers who perform various acts of service for the SALT ministry throughout the week.  This is anything from shopping for food to picking up bread to making sure the trucks are running. If you have a flexible schedule we could use you to serve as backup to our mid-week regular volunteers.  Contact Alicia Wurm for more details about needs.

Newsletter Coordinator - with the assistance of SALT leadership and volunteers, help compile and write engaging and interesting stories about the ministry on a quarterly basis.
